How Life Church served Holy Communion to a growing congregation

Serving a growing congregation with our prefilled Holy Communion cups

Whole In One Communion have been supplying our prefilled communion cups to Life Church for the past 2 -3 years. In 2016 - 2017 Life Church experienced a significant growth in its congregation. It is wonderful to see more people commit their lives to Christ and start attending church consistently. During this period one of the challenges for the church is to determine how to effectively serve a larger congregation. In this post Life Church will share with us on how they equipped their communion team to serve the new influx of people with excellence by using our prefilled communion cups.

Introduction to Life Church

Life Church is an Intentional Disciple-Making Church (IDMC) located at Castle Hill in Sydney NSW. They believe in authentic discipleship to Jesus Christ and intentional disciple-making of all nations for God’s glory. Senior Pastors Paul and Esabel Jeyachandran have the passion to see people become authentic, broken, courageous disciple makers for the glory of God. Many consider Pastor Paul to be a gifted preacher of the word of God and an able mentor. For this reason we invite you to check out his sermons on Youtube.

Life Church hosts the yearly IDMC Conference in Australia which saw over 1,000 people attending in 2017. Each year the conference addresses specific areas of critical concern in disciple making churches today. Life Church runs the Maximise Life Bible College which strategically invest in a few good men and women to journey together for 3 years doing intentional discipleship. The goal is to raise intentional disciple-makers with a certain kind of DNA who serve as sons and daughters in the house.

Questions and Answers

First of all when did Life Church begin to use prefilled cups?

We began to use the prefilled cups in the summer of 2016.

What was the reason for using them?

We were looking for a more efficient and economical way of serving communion to our members.

How was the initial experience and how did the congregation respond?

Our members were able to get used to receiving the wafer and wine in one convenient package. Furthermore our communion servers found it much easier to serve as they did not have to worry about pouring into individual tiny cups or spillage. They were also happy with no wastage of elements as any leftover cups could be used for the next service as they last over 3 months.

In 2016 Life Church started having Sunday Worship at Castle Hill RSL to cater for a larger congregation, later in 2017 a second Worship Service was also added. Please explain how the Whole In One communion cups has helped with this change.

The prefilled cups made it easier to prepare for Holy Communion while located at an external venue. There is minimal preparation required because the cups are prefilled and ready to use. Our communion team would bring the prefilled cups and place them in  silver serving trays at the venue. As a result, preparation is simple and manageable even with a larger congregation size. There’s no spillage or contamination and it’s very minimal fuss.

How often do you use it?

We use it when we serve Holy Communion monthly and have been using it for the past 2 years.

Finally, would you recommend to others?

Yes we would definitely recommend to others because it has been so easy to incorporate into the communion part of church services. It takes less time to prepare, is more efficient, economical, hygienic and is very simple to use. With our church congregation increasing in addition to having multiple services, using the communion cups definitely made it easier.
